AMY SEDARIS AND STEPHEN COLBERT ON THE TOP 5 REASONS YOU SHOULD SEE STRANGERS WITH CANDY, THE MOVIE

FROM STEPHEN:

1) To see Amy: This movie is really, at its core, a celebration of the inimitable Amy Sedaris. Those of us who have worked with her over the years know all too well how audiences are charmed by her performances. She's a force onscreen, and we're all more than a little jealous of her talent.

2) For religious instruction: This movie is really, in its heart, an exploration of the dynamic interplay between faith and fact in our daily lives. Do we accept the word of God as paramount and unquestionable, or do we listen to the siren song of modern science and dash our souls on the rocks of reason?

3) To understand modern teen life: This movie is really, truth be told, a cautionary tale. Students today are under pressures that earlier generations have no hope of understanding. Drugs, sex, peer pressure, and the deluge of constant digital information can make for a crushing combination that can prove toxic for too many kids.

4) To heal the planet: This movie is really, when all is said and done, a cry for peace in a world gone mad. Each character represents not only a different country, but a different form of government, and we hope that the resolution of this film will be mirrored in a resolution of all our international crises.

5) To trick your date into a handjob: Try the "hole in the tub of popcorn" thing. Go heavy on the butter, light on the salt.

FROM AMY:

1) Because you're gay.

2) Because you're a misfit.

3) Because you're a loser.

4) Because you worked on the film and you want to see your name in the credits.

5) To see Philip Seymour Hoffman's Oscar-winning performance... Oh, wait, that was Capote.
